Colossal Cryovolcanic Comet That Exploded in Space Is Headed Toward Earth
A massive cryovolcanic comet, three times the size of Mount Everest, has burst into space and is now speeding towards Earth, scientists report.

“We know very little about Earth’s core, other than that it exists.”
“It looks like the majority of these organisms are living at energy regimes that are below what we thought was even capable of maintenance—just staying alive.”
New detailed observations reveal a young exoplanet, orbiting a young star in the Hyades cluster, that is unusually dense for its size and age. Weighing in at 25 Earth-masses, and slightly smaller than Neptune, this exoplanet’s existence is at odds with the predictions of leading planet formation theories.
The European Southern Observatory’s Very Large Telescope (ESO’s VLT) has taken the first ever image of a young, Sun-like star accompanied by two giant exoplanets. Images of systems with multiple exoplanets are extremely rare, and — until now — astronomers had never directly observed more than one planet orbiting a star similar to the Sun. The observations can help astronomers understand how planets formed and evolved around our own Sun.
Earth turned faster at the end of the time of the dinosaurs than it does today, rotating 372 times a year, compared to the current 365, according to a new study of fossil mollusk shells from the late Cretaceous. The new measurement informs models of how the Moon formed and how close to Earth it has been over the 4.5-billion-year history of the Earth-Moon gravitational dance.
A likely “mini-moon” found orbiting Earth last month is moving away from our planet now, but it could be a harbinger of new small moons to come.
A super-Earth known as Barnard b might be far more habitable than previously thought.
A giant crater that was formed when a meteorite smashed into Earth, has been uncovered deep below Greenland’s ice sheets.
Scientists have reported the first ever discovery of a moon orbiting around an ‘exoplanet’ – a planet that exists outside of the Earth’s solar system.
Fast radio bursts are among the most mysterious phenomena in the universe, and some have suggested they could be coming from alien technology.
The mission will see scientists detonate an explosive on the rock known as Ryugu.
Scientists expect to find much more about the strange worlds in the coming years.
Earth and Mars will be closer together in distance than they have for 15 years, making the Red Planet easily visible with the naked eye.
A day was once only 18 hours long when the moon was closer to Earth, a new study has claimed.
